Do we have a date yet?
First week in August ...8/1-? was what was thrown out before. Fred and I like that date. I cannot speak for any of our children or their partners since we have always encouraged them to speak for themselves. Lets nail down a date and see if Chris still has flight discounts available.
The Dunes hotel (Silver Lake)was fine but there were condos next door where some families were having a reunion. I do not remember if you could have beach fires, or drink alcohol by the water. Renting houses might be the way to go again if we could all do a little research and share the results. The area is good and it seems like we should be able to come up with something that works.
The cost of airfare will be an issue so the sooner we have a date and place, the better idea we will have about who will be able to make it.
YEEEE___HAAAAWWWW! silver lake, sand people, mac woods dune rides, doughnuts, beer,fulgurites! this is going to be sweet! i agree with mom we should get a house or condos or something.

The designated Michigan venue was actually Pentwater, rather than Silver Lake. I don't know how much different they are, being only 12 miles apart (according to my local scout), but we have to choose one or the other. Since everyone was voting for Pentwater when they voted for Michigan, and since that was the location that was being discussed and researched before, I suggest we stick with it unless that would cause a great disturbance in the force. Obi Wan is surveying Pentwater in the near future; his 3-D holograms might give us a better idea how good the site is.
As for the date, can we lock it in for the first weekend in August, from July 31 - August 3? Katelyn, you finish on the 31st, right? Does anyone else have any conflicts?

the date works but i must insist on silver lake. we went there every summer growing up and i have very fond memories of it. there are excellent sand dunes. and smores!
matt, i also enjoyed the informational hyperlink altho there was no reference to silver lake! dissed again.
i will be in CA until at least july 31st. i would like to have some time before coming back right away so after that is my vote. and Matt: i totally own TWO fulgurites!
We also have a couple of small (1-2")fulgarites..We found them in the dunes across from Silver Lake. We hunted them down after a thunderstorm. The lightning strikes the sand and creates them, but you have to really search to find the spot, then dig them up carefully so as not to break them.
Brandon, do you think Silver Lake will be ok?
I think any place in that area, on the water, where we can get a couple of houses rented will be good. Frank, do you have any contacts? Some of the more interesting places I looked up are already booked for the first week in August.
the wisened little fur-ball has spoken. so sad... lets move the reunion back into mid to late august so all the fulgurite lovers can attend.
